Harvest of Artists, August 28, 2021

The Township of St. Joseph  Recreation  Committee will be presenting the Second Annual “Harvest of Artists” a new outdoor art and fine craft show to be held Saturday, August 28, 2021. The event will be held at the Centennial Grounds in Richards Landing. This year many of our favourite traditional events have been cancelled again, leaving artists and community members hoping for some relief.  The Grounds are an ideal location to set up a variety of artists with open space to distance from one another. The space also gives guests the room to distance while enjoying some recent work from the area’s many talented artists. Applications are available for interested artists here: Harvest of Artists application 2021 fillable form . There will be a small fee for participating artists to cover promotional expenses, with any surplus being donated the Richard’s Landing Children’s Library. We are looking for artists who create original works in a variety of mediums such as: custom wood furniture, walking sticks, painters, printmakers, photographers, weavers, ceramicists and sculptors. If you have any questions about applying as an artist, please call the Township of St. Joseph Office at 705-246-2625 ext. 201 or email Sherie at stjoehlc@bellnet.ca.

Town Hall

The Richards Landing Town Hall was constructed over 100 years ago at a cost of $250, and underwent extensive renovations and updating in 2000 to preserve its character and increase the usability of this landmark building.   The Town Hall was the focal point of the community for many years.  During the past century it has served as the location for many activities including socials, council meetings, dances, fairs, graduation ceremonies, concerts, meetings, weddings, 4-H gatherings, movie nights, and more.   Recent improvements to the building include replacement of windows and doors, insulation and heating systems, a new stage, refinishing the interior and exterior finishes, and washrooms.  All of these modern conveniences have been built in, while the original character and charm of the hall is maintained.    The Town Hall can be rented for a wide variety of uses at very reasonable rates.  Please contact the Healthy Living Coordinator, for details and booking information. The Just Passin' Through series was developed in 2013 by the Richards Landing Arts & Cultural Events Committee.  The series allows artists that are travelling through the area or are just interested in playing a show at our hall to have access to this venue.  Proceeds from the show are split between the artist and the committee based on show expenses and audience size.
