Job Description:

The Township of St. Joseph is seeking a dedicated and community oriented individual to join their administrative team in the position of Deputy Clerk/Treasurer.  This position plays a pivotal role within the organization and is responsible for coordinating the efficient daily operation of the municipality’s administrative office.    The Deputy Clerk/Treasurer is the first point of contact for the public, and the right candidate will possess the ability to multitask while providing exceptional customer service and administrative support on a wide range of subject matter.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Clerk Administrator and Treasurer in fulfilling financial and administrative statutory duties.
  • Coordination of operating and procurement activities for the municipality and administrative office. 
  • Focus on financial processing including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, property and utility billings, bank reconciliations and deposits, etc.
  • Support the Clerk in various duties related to administrating Council meetings, policies, and decisions.
  • Required to perform all statutory duties of the Clerk Treasurer in their absence.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or Business studies from an accredited college or university, a minimum of three years’ experience in a municipal or public sector role, or an equivalent combination of the two.
  • A strong working knowledge of USTI Asyst and the Microsoft Office Suite with superior Excel skills and in-depth knowledge of IT and telecommunications systems.
  • Extraordinary interpersonal skills are a must.
